Thousander Club Update -- October 9

posted by Scott Hsu-Storaker at 6:17 PM

It's been a while since I posted an update. In the time that I've been buried trying to finish up the Gilman pack, I managed to quietly slip past 200 hours. It's still a long climb to 1000, but it is heartening to see how the hours I have put in have led slowly and steadily towards the achievement of one of my big goals of finishing a project. Also of note, Gianfranco has also now passed 200 hours and I think we are the only two still posting updates. Maybe I'll try to talk some more people into at the beginning of next year.

GBGames' hours (10/9) -- 203.75
GBGames' game ideas (10/9)-- 432
Scott's 1000 hours (10/9) -- 211
1000 models -- over 150 now but pretty stuck as I have been working on texturing and exporting.

Surfacing

posted by Scott Hsu-Storaker at 11:49 AM

Whew! Has it really been over a month? I know.... I haven't been out here in a while to show all of you what we've been up to. In some case that would be a bad thing, but in our case it is actually a positive occurrence. What it means is that all us gearheads have been hard at work back in the garage tuning up our Gilman Street models for release. Whoever came up with the adage that "80% of the work happens in the last 20% of a project" was right on. I've been totally submerged trying to finish this up and I even ended up pulling most of the other coop friends into it as well, without them I don't know if this thing would ever be done. I only now have had a moment to come up for air and to let you in on some good news -- artwork on the Gilman pack is done! I am down to just a few troublesome exports and hangers-on and I will have a final release candidate ready soon. I plan on writing up a detailed post-mortem at some point, but for now let me just say that it will be a relief to get out from under this project and move on to working on some things I have been putting off for almost half a year. So, check back here for more news in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, though, here are a few of the textures we made during the final flurry of art activity.
