Odds and Ends

Well, I think I have left up the Gilman launch message as the top post for long enough now. I wanted to leave it up for a while as the first thing new visitors see when they visit for the first time, but it is time to move on. My schedule the past two months has taken on some wierd organic twists and turns and that has meant that I have ended up taking time off from progressing with new work for our little project here. It also means that most of the other artists have followed suit. But, it's all good -- this thing will get rolling again in the new year after we have all had time with busy schedules and visiting families and such. If you are an artist interested in contributing, now is a great time as we head into some new territory. Just let us know on the forum or contact me.

The launch of the Gilman pack has exceeded my expectations in the extreme. At the beginning of the year I was hoping that we would have 1000 downloads of our work during the whole year and I thought it might be a bit of a stretch. Once I put the word out, in not very many places mind you, we had over 300 downloads the first day and now we are quickly approaching 600. That's a lot of people. Every one of whom I imagine is sitting at some computer somewhere (or, if you are crazy like me, standing on the train working) trying to learn how to make a game or craft the next masterpiece. I hope you all get a chance to do some great work with our art. Of course, we would love to see what you come up with. For those who have not downloaded anything yet, it's over there on the sidebar and may soon be mirrored on other sites as well.

I'll be picking up with the Total Artist Makeover again soon. As with my time commitments mentioned above, the development plans I had started making on this front have led me in a lot of different directions. There was a point where I actually decided to just start taking action instead of talking about it any longer and this has taken me down some interesting paths, which I will be chronicling for you all again soon. In summary, not all is going to plan, and that's not really a bad thing. Also I might take more of a "This is what I did" take on things than a "This is what I am planning on doing" take.

I switched over to a new computer a month ago, which is something I may talk about at length at some point, but one thing that has not migrated over yet is my tally on the Thousander Club. I have started a new tally, but the new data has yet to marry up with the old data so I do not have precise numbers. I am 'round about 250 hours right now, and with some monsterous projects looming in front of me, I may hit 300 by the end of the year. For those of you keeping score at home, that is well short of 1000. I will address that at the turning of the year. Again, not a bad thing -- this year has been an monumental success (an incredibly challenging as well) for me personally even if things did not proceed as planned.
